The DesignedAF Workshop
On March 24, 2018, small business professionals from Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa, gathered for an interactive, brand-design focused workshop hosted by Bourbon & Bloom owner, Cait O'Malley.
The DesignedAF Workshop focused on educating business owners on how to build a strategic, consistent brand, how to understand and attract their ideal clients, and ultimately how to grow their business doing the projects that resonate deeply with them.
Following an in depth analysis of each company's personal and business aesthetics, the characteristic breakdown of their ideal clients, and their current communication strategies, attendees were guided through a series of interactive demonstrations to help them build a strategic, on-brand gallery.
Krista Murphy, of Wishtree Invitations & Design Inc. spoke to workshop attendees, highlighting the key elements to designing a flat lay, bringing in a collection of her sample stationery suites for participants to practice on.
Once the group had their own flat lay design set-up, Emma Haidar, of Photography by Emma, discussed her tips and tricks for taking great photos using a smartphone. Participants then put their knowledge to the test, capturing gallery worthy images of their flat lays.
Katherine McClowskey, of Pollen Nation Floral Studio, demonstrated how to create some beautiful Ikebana inspired centerpieces, while discussing the best ways to incorporate flowers in designs.
To close out the workshop, the workshop Cait offered a live table styling, while discussing key design strategies, how to create a stunning styled table on a budget, and how each business could incorporate their own service or product into a styled shoot.
The table featured Katherine's vibrant floral arrangements and Krista's custom spring stationery suite, with Emma capturing images in a perfect bright and airy expression.
